Still no consistent Internet access

by The Mandarin 3/31/2008 10:11:00 AM

The service provider engineer is going to come tomorrow to "boost" my signal, whatever that means.  No consistent Internet access till then, in the meantime I have been focusing on some of the business logic behind my system design for MendMyPC.   In particular I am focusing on the methodology for hourly charging and the implications this will have on transparency.

Without the Internet - I am up sh*t creek without a paddle!

by The Mandarin 3/29/2008 1:01:00 AM

The Internet has not been working properly today and I am not amused.  Initially there was no Internet access but now it just comes and goes.

To add insult to injury (or in this case is that vice versa) I also don't have a land line, however I have cable TV so I guess I can veg at home and not do any work whatsoever.

My Internet, telephone and cable TV all comes from the same service provider, I called them from my mobile phone (different service provider incidentally) and they performed some tests and duly informed me that I am not online - Doh!  Apparently an engineer needs to come out and check my weak signal!

This whole situation highlights a very obvious flaw in my masterplan to work from home over the Internet.   When you dont have Internet access you are f*cked.

I wonder what other people who depend on the Internet for work do in these situations?
