Olé! Olé! Olé! Ole!

After a very late night watching Spain versus Italy live at the Ernst Happel Stadium I am extremely tired.  This was an entertaining match with King Juan Carlos of Spain, Fatih Terim - Turkey's Coach and Arsene Wenger among others in the crowd.

As I've mentioned before this Euro2008 championship tournament has ruined my work schedule but I'm really enjoying it.  I also mentioned in my previous post that I fancied the Netherlands and Spain for the tournament, based on last nights performance I would have to say that Spain are still looking good.  Although Gianluigi Buffon saved a penalty kick by Daniel Güiza, the penalty kicks by Daniele De Rossi and Antonio Di Natale were saved by Casillas (the awesome Spanish goalkeeper) and then this was the scene when Cesc Fàbregas scored his penalty kick and Spain won the match against an unlucky Italian team.

This win takes Spain to 20 unbeaten games, what a run!! Unfortunately the Netherlands are not looking so good, they were summarily beaten by Russia, Turkey ( the never say die because we will score in the final second team) have replaced them as my second pick for the final.  In short I am predicting a Spain versus Turkey final which Spain will win by 2 goals to 1.

Oh well, I am going to try and focus on 2 classes I am coding for MendMyPC today, perhaps I might even finish them, if I don't I will console myself with the fact that I can do more work tomorrow as there is no football for 2 whole days till Germany take on Turkey (the rank outsiders) in Basel.

This cyberworker has gone football crazy

by The Mandarin 6/11/2008 9:55:00 PM

The European football championship started last week saturday in the host countries of Austria and Switzerland.  I've been into the city and there is an incredible Fan Zone setup in the city of Vienna, I guess all the host cities will have one of these.

I thoroughly enjoyed the zone especially the life size version of table football, other attractions are the various food stalls, music and of course the many large screens for watching the action. More information on the Fan Zones here.

All this football is distracting me from cyberspace and I cannot get enough, the euro2008 website is full of all sorts of bits and bobs about the tournament which takes up even more of my time.  I reckon it makes a huge difference living in a city that's hosting a football tournament especially as I have tickets to a few games as well, just   walking around in the city is exciting because the electric atmosphere is infectious.

There have been some really good opening games, notably the Holland vs Italy and the Spain vs Russia games, however I think it's still too early to call a winner although I like the look of the Dutch team.

Maybe I'll do some work tomorrow.....
