I attended the opencoffee club in vienna on thursday 10th of April and met some interesting people.  Here are some of the people I met:

Klemens from Creative Workline who is working on Tourality which is an Outdoor GPS multiplayer game for mobile phones.

Tupalo CEO and co-founder - Michael.  Tupalo operates a stuff in your neighborhood Web2.0 site similar to Qype, I have written about Tupalo before here.

Thomas who is working on a music startup called museec . He also works with the guys from FatFooGoo as a consultant.

The guys from urbantakeover who are attending ycombinator this month.   I wish them the very best of luck. 

Hannes from AWS; an Austrian state fund for technology and innovation.

The main topic of conversation was the lack of risk capital in Austria.  There are very few VC firms and seed capital is hard to come by because there are so few business angels.  All in all - this was an illuminating evening and the start up scene in Austria is quite vibrant. 

There is an OpenCoffee Club meet up in Vienna on Thursday the 10th of April.  I'll pop along to see what is happening on the Viennese start up scene.

The OpenCoffee Club was started by Saul Klein in order to;

"encourage entrepreneurs, developers and investors to organise real-world informal meetups to chat, network and grow"

I'm really curious to see how the ethos of the initiative combines with the dynamics of Austria.
